Project title: “Wheelstair – an innovative device allowing people in manual wheelchairs to independently overcome stairs and other architectural barriers”
Project objective: Creation of a new, internationally innovative Wheelstair device. This device will significantly reduce limitations on the freedom of movement in a wheelchair resulting from commonly occurring architectural barriers. Thanks to the use of Wheelstair device it will be possible to increase the participation of disabled people in social life, equal opportunities on the labour market, increase mobility and independence in life.
Planned effects: Implementation of the necessary research and development (R&D), as well as pre-implementation work, allowing the Polish invention, which is currently at TRL 6 Technology Readiness Level, to reach TRL 3 Technology Readiness Level.

Planned effects: Creation of a ready-to-produce, certified medical device which, in combination with a standard wheelchair, will enable driving up typical stairs.

Project Objective:
The direct objective of the project is to submit a professionally developed application to the “EIC Acceleration” programme by 31 December 2022. Being able to finance the work to professionally develop the application for the competition will increase WHEELSTAIR Sp z o.o.’s chances of succeeding in the competition and obtaining funding.
Planned effects:
Thanks to the implementation of the project, the company will increase its competence in development and pre-implementation planning, market analysis and creation of a feasibility study prepared in cooperation with external entities. We will also have the opportunity to professionally prepare a multimedia presentation of the project, translate the necessary documents and finance travel costs related to the programme application. This will increase know-how in communication and commercialisation of R&D results. Any success in the competition will contribute to the company’s competitiveness, innovation and development potential.

Project Objective:
To continue development of the Wheelstair device to move from the current TRL6 level of technological readiness to the TRL8 level for market validation, using completed pre-production prototypes of the Beta version.
Planned outcomes:
Development of a production version of the Wheelstair device and production of a minimum of 10 units of the Beta series, which will undergo real-world testing. During the planned work, design optimization will take place to reduce unit production costs. At the same time, work will continue on certifying the Wheelstair device as a Class 1 medical device in Europe.
